Despite Spurs sitting 2 places above Liverpool, the form and morale of the sides couldn’t be any more contrasting and I’m more than happy to side with Liverpool on this one. Liverpool are on a great run, winning 3 in a row and scoring 11 goals along the way, whereas Spurs are in a complete mess. Yes, Spurs showed resilience to come back from 0-2 down at home to Man United last game but in my opinion they were let off the hook by a weary United team showing signs of fatigue after a long season. Most other top teams would have stuck 5-6 past Spurs (like Newcastle did in the game prior) and I’ve got a feeling a free-scoring Liverpool might just put Spurs to the sword on Sunday.

Despite their season not hitting the heights of recent years, Liverpool’s home record is still fantastic. They’ve lost just 1/15games, winning 10. They’re scoring lots of goals right now, hitting 2 or more in each of their last 5 home games (3,2,7,2,2) and in 7 of their last 8. There’s been 9 goals scored in their last 2 home games (5 for and 4 against) which I think displays their attacking intent. I think Liverpool will back themselves to score more than Spurs on Sunday, which may well result in them conceding but hopefully scoring plenty. Therefore a shade under evens for o2.5 goals and a Liverpool win feel generous to me considering the stats and form of the teams.

Spurs look so vulnerable in defence. Their shape was all over the place against Man United and only fatigue from United and iffy subs but ten Hag saved them. Spurs have conceded 11 goals in their last 3 matches and are without a clean sheet in 8 games. Despite their inability to keep goals out, Spurs are still scoring them. They conceded 11 in those last 3 matches, but they also scored 5. Spurs have seen o2.5 goals in each of their last 4 matches and in 6 of the last 7.

Everything points towards goals here. Liverpool really need to win to try and secure Europa League football and will surely be targeting this Spurs side as one that can be attacked and picked off. When cheered on by a raucous Anfield crowd, I can see Liverpool scoring a few against this poorly organised and vulnerable Spurs team, hopefully triggering bet365’s early payout to help this one land more comfortably.
