🔵⚪Brighton v Newcastle

Research/Write Up:

I’m expecting a really entertaining game at the AMEX on Saturday evening and in my opinion, with the teams so evenly matched and with both sides putting huge emphasis on attack, the best way to approach this game is player shots.

Subscribers to my channel will recognise the name Solly March. His shot stats last season were excellent, meaning he was someone we bet on regularly, and he rarely let us down. This season he’s carried on exactly where he left off, hitting an impressive: 3,5,2 shots so far.

Brighton have had an impressive: 27,16,25 shots so far this season, therefore it’s no wonder their front 4 are getting so many chances. March will be up against perhaps Newcastle’s weak link in Dan Burn and I’m backing Brighton’s local lad to look to take his man on, cut inside and get some shots away. As well as this, Newcastle do allow teams to attack them and get shots away. The Toon have conceded: 16,14,9 so far and the 9 against Liverpool would have been much higher if not for van Dijk’s early red card. If Brighton get around 16 shots (and I think they will) we have to be confident March will get just 2 of them.

Miguel Almiron has gone from comedy figure to one of the first names on the team sheet at Newcastle. The Paraguayan had a superb season last term, averaging 2 shots per game, which is impressive over the course of the entire season. This season his average is 3 shots per game after he had: 1,2,6 shots. His shot count is increasing game by game as he gets more match sharp and confident. What I like about this section is Almiron is against Pervis Estupinán who absolutely loves getting forward. I’m hoping Almiron can utilise the space left by Estupinán and get some shots away like he’s been doing all season.

Like Newcastle, Brighton do concede plenty of shots such is their mindset to get players forward. So far this season they’ve conceded: 9,16,12 shots, which is an average of 12.3. Newcastle have had: 17,7,23 shots this season. The 7 was away at Man City so that’s a misleading number. Even with that game at Man City, Newcastle still average 15.6 shots per game. If they manage to reach that amount (once again I think they will) them I’m more than happy to back Almiron to get just 2 of them considering his attacking abilities, to complete a very generously priced odds against shots double.
