Research/Write up:

Newcastle v Man United are usually lively affairs and I fully expect this one to be the same. Who might win or how many goals will be scored is too hard to predict in my opinion; what stands out for me is player shots. Two players in superb form on opposing sides are Bruno Fernandes and Aleksander Isak. So I’m backing each attacking player to get just 2 or more shots each. Let me explain why…

Fernandes is in fine form for United. In his last 12 matches he has hit a really impressive:
3,2,2,2,2,3,2,2,3,2,4,4 shots. He even managed to get 2 at Anfield during one of the darkest days in United’s history in that appalling 7-0 loss. With United averaging just under 13 shots on their travels, you’d hedge your bets on Bruno getting just 2 of them, especially with him getting 2+ in each of his last 12.

Since he openly displayed his disgust at being left out of the lineup for the EFL cup final, Aleksander Isak has set out to prove his manager wrong - and his form has dramatically improved. He’s almost undroppable at the moment. In the 3 games since the cup final, he came off the bench at Man City and hit 2 shots in just 27 minutes, he then scored and hit another 4 shots at home to Wolves, then scored 2 and hit 5 shots in a MoM display last game at Forest. With Newcastle averaging an impressive 16.6 shots per home match and United conceding an average of 14.1 on the road, you’d be confident of in-form Isak getting just 2. Especially as he’s had 11 in his last 2.5 matches.

United have actually conceded: 15,18,18,16,25 in their last 5 away games so Newcastle should get plenty of shots away tomorrow. In contrast, after a much needed rest over the international break, United will be looking to get back to top form and they’ll not go to St James’s Park just to sit back. They’ll want to show Newcastle that third spot is theirs.

If my prediction of a lively game is true and we see an early evening cracker tomorrow then I think this bet has a great chance at a really inviting odds against.
