EFL - Millwall v Luton

Published on Apr 7, 2023 at 7:30am

The Championship provides a cracking encounter as Luton Town make the short trip into South East London on Good Friday. Millwall trail Rob Edwards’ side by six points in the Championship table with just seven games to play.

Betting on the result of this clash is rather tricky, as the hosts, Millwall are slight favourites but only the top two have a better away record than Luton who are priced at 2/1 to claim all three points. The goal line is set rather low for this lunchtime clash with the overs best priced at 17/10.

These sides met just a few weeks ago at Kenilworth Road, Luton fought back from two goals down to earn a point in a clash that saw just a single card shown. Surprisingly, across the previous seven meetings between these sides since the 2019/2020 season, only 13 cards have been brandished. (Millwall 6-7 Luton)

Zian Flemming Over 1.5 Shots & Each Team Over 0.5 Second Half Cards @ 2.15 (Bet 365)

Zian Flemming has enjoyed his first season in England after his move from Dutch side Fortuna Sittard. The 24-year-old has scored 13 times in 36 appearances for the Lions this season, with a goal arriving every 230 minutes on average. Only six Championship players have scored more than the Millwall man.

Millwall usually set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Flemming in the middle of the three. His shot statistics have been very consistent across the entirety of the season. In his previous 33 league starts, the attacker has registered two or more shots in 27 matches, a rather respectable strike rate. Flemming scored the opening goal and managed five shots in the reverse fixture.

Despite the lack of cards between these two clubs in recent times, this game could easily become a fiery affair. This match is live on Sky Sports and with both clubs battling it out towards the top of the table, we could be in for a thrilling 90 minutes.

Since the turn of the year, both sides have been booked after the break at The Den in six of their seven Championship matches. Luton have received a booking in five of their seven away trips this calendar year in the second half. A card each in the latter stages of this clash is certainly achievable, everything points towards a tightly contested match-up between these two Premier League-chasing clubs.
